Zone Cleaning for the Holidays

It's Holiday time! Is your house ready for all the visitors that will be walking through the door? Don't worry I have some tips on how to get your house ready for all the guess you will be having. 

Have you heard of Zone cleaning? 

For those that are not sure what zone cleaning is.  The FlyLady was the original person to come up with this concept of zone cleaning. 

What I mean by Zones, each part of your house are a Zone. For example, Zone 1 is the Kitchen, Zone 2 Livingroom and Zone 3 is Bathroom.

How I use the Zone cleaning when I am in that zone I will add a cleaning chore that does not get done within that week. For example, Zone 1 Kitchen Wipe all top cabinets out. Now this will be added to my normal cleaning choices. 

In my house, I am the main person to do Zone cleaning, but with the Holidays here its time for the whole family to step up and help with these chores. In the picture above you can see I have listed 5 Zone cleaning, you may have more or less then I do but you can adjust it to any home. 

So how my family and I keep up with who did what zone cleaning. We have a calendar, the person that did a zone cleaning will put a dot of the zone color and what was done.  Yes, I also color code the zones. Zone 1 Kitchen is Red, Zone 2 Livingroom Orange, Zone 3 Bathroom Blue, Zone 4 Kidsroom Brown, and Zone 5  Black Mom & Dad room.

This way all the Zone cleaning choices are done in the first couple of weeks of the month.  We will all be doing Zone cleaning for November and December. Once January is here I will be the only one doing the Zone cleaning each month. 

How I am tracking what cleaning I have done in each zone.

You will see in this tracker I only have 3 Zones, as the kids cleaning their room and  Zone cleaning. I also will clean Mom and Dad room.  The 3 Zones I have on the tracker is the more heavily used rooms.

I set the Zone cleaning tracker up for November to  December of the following year.
