Some Tips for Beginner Planners

Here are some tips that I have learned along the way in my planning journey.

Try to carry your planner with you at all times. If you can’t carry with you, carry a small note pad or use your phone to write down new task. don’t try to remember new task, most likely you will forget. Be ready to write down all new task.

When setting down to fill your planner out, don’t worry about making it look filled out. In the begging take it day by day. Don’t overwhelm yourself with task. When setting up your planner make two list a “Must Do” and a “Want to Do”.  This way you don’t overwhelm yourself with tasks day to day.

When filling, important upcoming tasks don’t be afraid to use your month view. I use my month view so that I know when I need to write blog article, take pictures and when to post to my blog.

When setting down to get work done look over your planner, leave it open next to you. This will remind you of the task at hand and other for the day. Make sure you always reference your planner, make sure to mark off or cross off task when completing.

Try and use a system that works best for you! There is color coding, functional stickers and many more. If you’re on a budget and don’t want to buy stickers, then you can use the color coding with different color pens. Rank of importance or different items like home, work and kids with colors. If you decided to use color code don’t for get to make a color chart until you can remember the ranks. At this point you can beautify your planner, inspire yourself to plan and be organized. Using journal cards with inspirational quote to brighten your day and gives color to your planner.

Make sure you set down each day and look over your planner or fill in any new task that may have popped up. Make it a part of your daily routine.

Planning is to make you feel good, you will find that some days that you will not marking all your task off. Don’t worry move the unfinished task to another day. No one will be grading you on your planner, it’s your planner. Planners are personal, it’s yours do as you wish that make you happy.
