Update on Planner Line Up

Hello, Butterflies

I would like to share with you what planners I am using and how they are working together to help me get my task done each day.

For those of you that have been following me know that I Bullet Journal in my Travelers Notebook. For the last couple of months, I felt like I need a change in my planning routine. I was not sure if I need to print out inserts, or just change up planners altogether.

So I found on the Target website that they had Happy Planners for Teachers and Students. I went to to the store to see if our Target carried them in store so I could see first hand how they were set up. Well, unfortunately, my store does not carry them in store.

So I found that there were many Youtube reviews on the Happy Planner you could get at Target. After watching so many reviews I decided to make the jump and buy a Happy Planner.

After receiving it in the mail, set up the planner as I would use it. I bought the classic Happy Planner for Students.  After using it the first week in August I found that I loved it but still need daily pages so that I could add notes or journal about my day. I was also missing my Travelers notebook, I love the chunkiness for it in my hand.

So I decided to use them together because no one was telling me to use only one planner. So I use the Monthly view and the weekly view in the happy planner and use the Travelers notebook for my daily list of tack.

For my monthly view, I color coded. Teal colors are for a blog post, Bills are red Kids school stuff is orange, Tv shows we watch as a family is in green and all other things are wrote in black. I also mark paydays with a sticker.

How I have my weekly setup in a student planner is the First box is the weather for the day. The second box is for the meals, the Third and fourth boxes are for the work task. Fifth and sixth boxes are for other things like house and kids stuff. The seventh bo is for small notes for the day. This is a Monday - Friday setup, on the weekends it only the weather and meals I have used.

For my daily, I add a time bar at the top and color code how much time I will be spending. Blue is sleep, pink is work, purple is personal time and yellow is family time. The first couple of days like this I was not sure how I want to spend my time so you will see that not yellow on the Monday and Tuesday. The time bar is how I want my day to go. I add the day of the week with the date and a water tracker. Then I will add my task in more details because I have more room.

The Happy Planner stays on my desk open to the weekly page. My Travelers Notebook is my carry around or planner on the go. In my TN it also has calendars of 2018 that is marked out the same way as my happy planner. So if I am out an bout and need to add the appointment to it and then when I get home I can add it to my Happy Planner.

I hope you enjoyed seeing my planner line for the rest of the year of 2018.

I am not saying I may not draw up monthly inserts for Bullet Journaling spreads, but for right now this is working for me.

My Planner Routines

Hello, Butterflies

Today I want to share with you my planning routine. I find having a routine helps me be more productive with each day.

In the beginning of me using a planner, I didn't have a routine and found that I was not keeping up with my planner. Things were slipping by because of lack of a routine to check my planner.

So let me share my planning routine and then I will share some tips on how to start a planning routine.

Mornings:

  • I update trackers
  • Look at my monthly calendar (to check for Events)
  • Look at my weekly spread ( to see projects or to do's for the day and week)
  • Then I will set up a Daily ( I will break down to do's or project into smaller task)

Middays:

  • I will update any project or task that I have completed on my weekly spread.
  • I will update my day of the completed task and look over task I am moving on to next.
  • I add any notes or thoughts on task or projects.

Evenings:

  • I will mark off completed task and move any task to another day that I did not finish.
  • I will add any project or to do's that have popped up and need to be completed that week.
  • I will again look at the task or project I have planned for the next day.

One of the tips I have for you when your setting up a routine for your self is to make a list and stick it to the front page of your planner. This list could be just your morning routine you want to have. Then when you feel like you have that down and no longer have to look at the lists add your midday routine to the same list. This way you are now training your self to look what you want in the midday and still seeing your morning routine so you are not forgetting what is on that list. You will do the same when you have your midday routine down you will then add your evening routine down to the same list.

You will be looking over the list each time you are adding a new section so your keeping in mind of the other routines you have in place.

I have also done this and add a checklist to check off when each item is done, this way when I see that the list is full of check marks each day for a month I know I can remove the list from my planner.

I hope this helps you be able to setup your own planning routines.

If you have any questions or suggestions please feel free to leave them below in the commits.

I would love to hear from you!

Planning Routine

Hello, Butterflies

Do you have a Planning Routine? Do you like seeing others planning routines?

Today I will be sharing with you my planning routine.

I start out my weeks on a Monday. On Saturday I set down and draw out my weekly layout. Sunday I set down in the evening and plan out my week with events and task that have deadlines. I will also do my weekly review of the week ending, and go over my weekly goals to see if I have met the goal I have set for myself. I will also set new goals or move goals I did not meet to the following week.

I will also set up my time tracker for Monday on Sunday. I do not track the time I have spent, I will mark the times on how I would like to spend my day. I will add any extra task to my Monday section. Most of my task that I pre-plan will be in the same colors as the colors I use on my time tracker. This way any task I add thought out the day will be in black ink, and I know when I go back and look over the week it's been added that day.

Monday

Each Morning I wake up at 6 am, So from 6 to 7:30am is waking up and hanging out with family until everyone leaves for school and work.  Once everyone leaves the house I will go to my tracker and mark off the kid's tackers. I will also flip to the week to draw in the weather for the day and to see what I have for the day. I will leave my Traveler's Notebook open to the week and leave it open on my desk to make it easier to check off the task.

Each Night I will set down 30mins before heading to bed, I will fill in my tracker and the kid's trackers.  I will also do my doodle a day. After that is complete I will go back to my weekly layout and mark off any task that I completed and migrate any task that is not finished that day.

Tuesday

Tuesday are my short day so I will move my morning routine up. I will start working on posting my blog at 6:30 then fill in all trackers, weather and time tracker for the day. I will move any task that I did not finish on Monday to Wednesday or Thursday.  I know I must have all my daily task done by 10am.

At 10:30 pm I will mark off all trackers for the day. I will go ahead and fill in Wednesday time tracker and weather. I will also do my doodle a day.  I will look over Wednesday task and set out any materials I may need for the morning task.

Wednesday

6 to 7:30 am Family time, again marking off the kid's tracker for morning task. I will go ahead and jump on my task, as Wednesday is a very busy day with Tuesday a short day.

30 mins before bed I will fill out all trackers for the day. Do the daily doodle, I will also fill in Thursday weather and time tracker. Again I will get out any materials that I need for Thursday.

Thursday

6 to 7:30 am Family time, again marking off the kid's tracker for morning task. I will also go over my project spread, I will remove any task that I have completed at the beginning of the week.   I will also update any action steps for the project still running.

At 10:30 I will set down and mark all trackers, move any task that was not completed to Saturday. I will fill in Friday's weather and block out time for School.  I will mark any time for assignments for the three classes I am taking.

Friday

6 to 7:30 am Family time. I will do any clean up around the house before I set down and fill in all trackers. I will work on a small task before I need to be in class at 9am.

6pm I will set down do my doodle for the day. I will look over tasks that I have moved to Saturday.

Saturday

When I wake up the first thing is to fill in trackers from Friday night. Then I just on finish any open task. Then I will draw up the next week layout. I will also make sure I am done working by noon. As the rest of the day is hanging out with the family!

Sunday

In the morning I will catch up on trackers for the week. As for Sunday, we as a family will go over the trackers. We will talk about how we did without habits and how we could do better for the following week.

An hour before heading to bed I will plan out the week adding any events or task deadlines.

Here is what my week looks like:

I hope seeing my Planning Routine helps you make your own routine if you do not have one.

If you have a Planning Routine I would love to hear about yours, as we can get great ideas from each other.
