Do you Still Bullet Journal in a Binder ?

Hello, Butterflies

If you have been following for some time you may have seen the post How I Bullet Journal in a Binder. So today I want to update you on my binder planner.

From the time I started planning in my adulthood, I started Bullet Journaling. It was easy and cheap, all I need was a pen and paper to plan. At this time I was not sure planning was for me, I was not sure I had enough task or events to use a planner for.

So I bought a mini binder so I could have a place to Bullet Journal in.

So over a year, I used my mini binder making layouts for each month, drawing up weekly and adding in daily. Also in between adding in the collections section and trying new layouts and spreads that I was seeing other use on YouTube.

As I was watching a "Plan With Me" I ran a crossed someone that was using a Chic Sparrow Travelers Notebook as a Bullet Journal. I feel in love with the idea of being able to bullet journal in a Travelers Notebook. So I made one and started using it on a daily basis, and place the mini binder on the shelf for some time.

As time has gone along I found that I wanted to use more than one planner at a time. So I went back to the shelf and pulled the mini binder off and started planning how I wanted to use it. I knew that I did not want to go back to bullet journal system in the binder as I had found my groove in my TN for that.

So, I started designing my own inserts that I could print and use. I started this process at the beginning of 2018, As you can find some of these in the Download Library  I would make them for my TN as it was the planner I was using every day to test out to see if I could work with them.

At the beginning of August, it hit me the reason these inserts was not working as I was trying to use them in my TN and not the mini binder which is where I wanted them to be used in. So I change how I was making the insert and come up with some that I call "All in one". Printed and cut the inserts and place them into my mini binder. I have been using these with my TN everyday sense.

So No, I no longer Bullet Journal in my mini binder.

I have found that with using the inserts in my mini binder that my family is more inclined to reach for the planner and also write their events in.  As they shared they did not want to write in it before when I was using it as a Bullet Journal because they did not want to mess up my spreads as they had seen the work I put in on drawing outs.

I hope you enjoyed reading my update on my Bujo Binder, I hope this inspires you to try and change you planning system up with the items that help you plan your life.

Happy Planner Hacks / DIYs

Hello, Butterflies

Today I want to share some of the Hacks and DIY's that I have used in my HappyPlanner. I do not claim that I personally come up with any of the Hacks or DIY's I may have just added my own little touches to them to fit what I envision in my own planner.

With saying all that let's jump into the Hacks and DIYs:

Protective Cover:

Materials Need

Dollar Tree Chopping Mats
Exacto Knife or Scissors
Ruler / Metal Ruler
Sharpie Pen or Non-Permanent Marker or Pen
Hole Punch
Front and Back Cover of your Happy Planner

Lay out the Chopping Mat place the front cover on the Chopping Mat. One side of the cover should be lined up to the edge of the chopping mat, trace around the cover. Place the back cover on the chopping mat and trace around it. Cut each the front and back out with your ruler and Exacto knife, you can also cut them out with a pair of scissors. For the straight edge, I would suggest using the Exacto knife. After the covers are cut out place the Happy Planner cover on top and trace the punch marks. Use your single hole punch to punch the hole and then go back in with your scissors to cut the slits. Pop the cover on to make sure that you have the slits wide enough to slide with ease. If not moving with ease remove and cut the slits wider.

Round the corners of each as they can be pointy and sharp. This can be easily done with a pair of scissors.

Page Marker/BookMark:

Materials Need

Dollar Tree Chopping Mats
Exacto Knife or Scissors
Ruler / Metal Ruler
Sharpie Pen or Non-Permanent Marker or Pen
Hole Punch

Lay out the Chopping Mat, Place your Happy Planner cover on top of the Chopping Mat and mark how tall you want the page marker to stick out above the cover. You can also do this for a side tab page marker, just mark how far you want it to stick out the side. You need to decide how wide you like the page marker to be and mark the wide on the Chopping Mat. After cutting the page marker out place your cover back on top with the tab part above the over and mark the hole to be punched out. Punch the holes and cut the slites. Round the corners as they will be pointy and sharp from being cut out. Place into your Happy Planner to make sure it moves with ease. If not moving with ease remove and cut the slits wider.

Folder:

Materials Need

File Folder
Scissors
Ruler
Pencil
Glue
Decorative Paper
Hole Punch

Pull one of you Happy Planner Divider place the divider on to of the File folder. Place the hole punches on the open side of the file folder that is open and trace out the divider without the tab. Cut the folder to the to the size of the divider, then mark one side of the fold with a diagonal line to mark the open of the folder when place in your Happy Planner. Cut on the diagonal line to remove from the folder. Lay your Decorative paper down and mark the size of the folder, cut out. Lay out the cut Decorative paper and mark the same diagonal line, cut on the line. Now its time to put it all together. Place the bottom part of the Decorative paper on the bottom part of the folder, and glue. Place the top part of the Decorative paper on the inside of the folder at the top and glue. Glue the bottom two pieces together to close the bottom. You can also add Decorative paper to the back of the folder, may want to do this before punching holes and cutting the slits. Place the divider on top of the folder and mark out the hole punches. Punch the hole and cut the slits.

You can add in Dashboard and  Divider with the steps above.  Instead of going and buying the paper you can just make your own line, grid and dot grid. Just use a page that does not have a tab to mark the size and hole punch marks.

Here are some images of the things I have done in my Happy Planner:

New Cover

Sold Color Dashboard

Clear Dashboard

Dividers

Dot Grid Paper

I hope you have got some inspiration to make your Happy Planner to fit your style with some of these Hacks / DIYs.

How I use a Student Happy Planner

Hello, Butterflies

Today I want to share with you how I use a Student Happy Planner. I was able to get my hands on one of the Student Happy planners that Target was selling. My Store did not carry them within the store but was able to order it off the Target website.

If you have been following me you know that my main planner is a Travelers Notebook. I have been looking into changing my planner routine but was not sure how too. So I ran across a couple of YouTube videos talking about the Happy Planner. They looked like something I could use and be able to add pages to it any time I need.

I want a planner that I did not have to print pages or inserts out and it was ready to go, but want to still be able to add my own touch to it.

With the Student planner, there are Seven boxes per day. So I decided to break down my days into Categories.

Box 1 :

Is for my Daily Weather

Box 2 :

Is for the Days Dinner

Box 3 & 4 :

Is my Work Task

Box 5 &6 :

Is my other Task, Family events, Home and Self Task

Box 7 :

This is a Small Note Section

This is how I plan Monday - Friday. Saturday and Sunday I keep box 1 and 2 for weather and meals.

Here is what a Week looks like filled out.

Here a week before I fill it in.

With using the Planner this way I can see all my task in one place.

The Happy Planner is the Classic size, so I keep the planner on my desk. I have found that it also makes a great Family planner as well. I find my family checking once or twice a week.

I still use my Travelers notebook. I use it more for in-depth Daily planning, Braindumps, Habit Tracking, and Notes. I find that using them together works well for me.

I hope you have enjoyed seeing how I use the Student Happy Planner. I hope this inspires you to think out the box when you are using a Happy Planner.

September Setup

Hello, Butterflies

For the month of September, I went with a theme of magic. This theme was inspired by Harry Potter the movie, I decided to go with a classroom design.

For September I have in a Monthly Calendar, Goals page, Braindump page, Blog work page, and weekly using the dutch door style.

My Weekly has Good and Bad boxes, Weekly Weather box, Small Monthly Calendar, Meals Box and a Daily Step Count box.

This month I want to try to use fewer pages when setting up for September, so I am trying to use the Dutch Door layout. This way I can also have all the information on my weekly spreads.

September Setup:

I hope you have enjoyed seeing my September Setup and hope it has inspired you to try new things in your monthly setup.
